Privacy-minimized archive measurement
WeWereAthletes uses first-party, aggregate measurement for meaningful archive actions such as opening a School, Game or Film; using Search or random discovery; following a Film to YouTube; and starting or completing a contribution. Approved campaign tags and a broad referrer category may be recorded. Raw search text is not stored in analytics.
A random, first-party anonymous session token expires after 30 minutes. It is not connected to an account or contributor identity. Analytics does not store raw IP addresses, full user-agent strings, advertising IDs, social identities, cross-site identifiers, arbitrary headers, or arbitrary cookies. Raw analytics events are retained for 30 days; daily aggregate counts are retained for 25 months.
Contribution and correction data
Submissions are stored in a separate private review system and may include a name, email address, relationship to the game, public YouTube link, media details and historical notes. Correction reports also store the proposed change and supporting evidence. Public attribution is a separate choice from private contact data. Submission content is not copied into analytics.
Public archive data
School, season and game facts may be public when verified and appropriate. Contributor email addresses, private names, permission evidence, reviewer notes and internal workflow records are not published.
Service providers
The site and its structured records are hosted through OpenAI Sites and its Cloudflare-backed storage. Video playback and source links involve YouTube under its own policies. WeWereAthletes does not add third-party advertising pixels or behavioral analytics tools.
Retention and requests
Contribution and correction records are retained as needed to review submissions, document provenance, prevent duplicate work and respond to rights or correction requests. Use the contact page to request access, correction or removal of private submission information, subject to legitimate archival and legal needs.
